About

WHO WE ARE

The sisters of the Red & White are the oldest club on the ACU campus; a group of Christian women striving to do what is right in love and friendship.

Our Story

The Women of GATA was started by a small group of friends on Friday, Jan. 16, 1920, on the campus of then Abilene Christian College. Currently celebrating 101 years of history and tradition, the original name of the club was Girls Aid to Athletics.

Today, the women of the Red and White share a bold heritage of Christian sisterhood and a proud legacy of love, friendship and service that extends around the world.

In 1970, the Women of GATA gifted the GATA Fountain, which has become one of the most recognizable icons on campus. It was reconstructed and dedicated during Homecoming festivities in 1988. Now, as part of the Centennial Celebration, a new fountain will be built as a feature of major renovations to the center of campus.
